U.K. is preparing to draw a sterling pound with a picture of Gorkha

London. In recognition of the contribution made by Gurkha soldiers to the British army, the British government is preparing to issue a coin depicting Gurkhas on pound coins. According to Treasury Secretary John Glenn, Finance Minister Rishi Sunak said at a function in London on Monday that he was "ready" to take such a step as soon as possible.

So far no coins from any community other than the white British have been minted. The Treasury Minister said that the structure of the coin was being discussed in terms of its format and the entire proposal had been submitted to the Royal Mines. The Royal Mint is a British-owned coin-printing company. It prints coins from more than 60 countries each year.
